3 Ways to Clean Knit Sneakers

Knit sneakers like the Adidas Originals Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Shoes are all the rage in the sneaker world right now. They are some of the most stylish yet comfortable sneakers out there. However, not everyone knows how to clean them properly.

Unless you clean your knit sneakers properly, their color can easily fade, and they can lose their shape. To prevent these issues, here are three ways you can clean your knit sneakers.

  1. Clean with a brush
If you don’t wear your knit sneakers too often, then you can simply clean them off with a brush from time to time.

Start by making a mixture of detergent powder and water until it turns into a thick paste. You can also use toothpaste instead. Then, use a toothbrush to apply the paste to the stained or dirty parts of the shoe. Brush lightly until the area looks clean.

Wipe off the area with wet paper towels, then dry it using dry paper towels. Allow the shoes to dry for a full day before using them again.

  1. Hand wash them
It’s always best to hand-wash any knit sneaker when you need to give them a deep clean. It’s best to take off the shoelaces and insoles before washing them.

Make a cleaning solution by mixing one teaspoon of detergent into 1 liter of water. Submerge the shoe in the liquid and let it sit for 1 or 2 minutes. Use a toothbrush to rub away any dirt or debris gently.

Wash off the shoes in clean water, then dry them off using a towel. Leave them to air dry in a vertical position for 24 to 48 hours before using them.

  1. Machine wash them
You should only machine wash your shoes if you are in a pinch. It would be best not to machine wash your sneakers every time.

Remove the laces and put them in a mesh bag. Remove the insole and hand-wash them. Put your snickers in a separate load with cold water and detergent only. When the cycle is complete, take out the shoes and dry them off as much as possible with a rag or paper towels.

Stuff some scrunched-up newspaper inside the shoe, and air dry them for 24 hours before using them again.

In conclusion

Washing knit sneakers is really easy, no matter which method you use. You can clean your knit sneakers every 1 or 2 months, depending upon how much you use your sneakers. These sneakers do not get stained or discolored too easily, so you don’t have to wash them too often.
